TeamTGM Carries Momentum to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park

Friday, July 7, 2017

Fresh off of a fifth place finish at Watkins Glen International over the weekend, TeamTGM is returning to IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge competition this weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Back-to-back weekends as the series launches into its second half of the season couldn’t have come at a better time for TeamTGM after Ted Giovanis and Guy Cosmo drove to their best finish of the year at the Glen on Saturday.

At 2.459-miles long, the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park circuit is a challenging one – well known for its high speed segments. The track has played host to virtually every type of racing from Formula One, to IndyCars, Can-Am, World Endurance, Formula 5000, Formula Atlantic, Formula Fords, Super Vees, and numerous sports car events.

TeamTGM is eager for race action with the Porsche Cayman platform at the Canadian road course.

“I think it’s going to be a good weekend for us,” said Cosmo, who has numerous starts at the undulating circuit. “Canadian Tire Motorsport Park is a track that I personally really enjoy, and as much as I think I might have an advantage because it’s a track at which I typically do well, it still all comes down to setup, strategy and teamwork. Not to mention, we have a lot of great competition! I think we’re going to have another good weekend. It’s going to be really cool and great to be back there, I haven’t raced there in quite some time.”

Cosmo has several starts at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park – with podium finishes in 2005 and 2013 while competing in the American Le Mans Series. His best result at the track came in the form of a runner-up finish in 2013 – driving ESM’s HPD ARX-03b Prototype.

Giovanis has four previous starts at the circuit and looks forward to his return.

“I haven’t been to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park as much as I’ve been to other tracks, but it has a lot of similarities to the Glen with its high speed corners,” said Giovanis.  “I think the setup is going to be similar to what we ran at the Glen and we’re looking forward to it. It worked out well for us last weekend! Guy (Cosmo) has a lot of time at CTMP between Prototype and Ferrari challenge so we’re all looking forward to it.”

The two-day event weekend begins with practice on Friday, followed by both qualifying and the two-hour race on Saturday. The Canadian Tire Motorsport Park 120 goes green Saturday at 2:40 PM ET and can be viewed via live streaming at IMSA.tv.
